All a house price shows is the level of demand for that type of house in that area.
The higher the demand the higher the price will be. Desirable areas (good schools, proximity to services/attractions) will always achieve a premium in the market. Therfore the higher prices in an area the more in demand that area is.
Its simple economics really. Supply and Demand.

My Daughter Was Living In Ca. Where Everyone Knows About House Prices, They Had A Nice Three Bedroom.?

They put in on the market and had about 50 offers the first open house. They moved back here with their baby. They lived with me for 6 to 8 months and then bought a house in the small town we live in. My daughter thought she wanted it because she has always liked old houses and it is in the Historical Society, It is a 2 story which is very pretty from the outside. They have owned it about 2 years. They have had trouble with plumbing, gas leaks from inside and electrictal problems that were dangerous.. They had crumbling that looked like sand came through the paper and also mold. They had a lady look at it from Col. OH. who know about restoring old house but this one was already supposed to be restored. She saw the sand crack in the corner and asked to look in the basement. She went all around it and saw falling brick and cracks that went to the top of basement. She said the house was just sittting on so many pieces of rock because it had a old tunneled out sandstone basement .

The MOST I can go= $63,500
My question is.. do I sound desperate (and they’ll try to get more out of me).. or is that the best thing I could have done. I really love the house, but i don’t want them to know I love it. It’s in a really nice neighborhood which is important because I have 2 children. I’ve done a lot of househunting and for the location it is a good price.. but when you look in it, it is nice BUT needs a few updates which brings the value lower than neighboring houses. Only thing is it’s only been on the market for 2 days! Is that bad for me? Or does it matter? Isn’t $63,000 a pretty good offer for a house they are asking $67,500 for? I’m hoping for at LEAST a counteroffer… then all I can do is $63,500, take it or leave it. I can’t even come up with a penny more than that.. that is SOLID LINE all I have to offer!

What To Do About A Tree On The Property Line?

We have a large tree (the oldest, largest in the neighborhood) sitting smack-dead on the property line between our house and our neighbor’s house. We have new neighbors who are complaining about an “obstructed view” of the street (and why someone would rather see a street and neighbor’s houses than a tree I have no idea) and want to either cut the tree down or prune it to the point of deformation. We are refusing. Not only does the tree provide an excellent canopy over the entire front yard, it provides shade to the house which helps keep our energy bills low.
What, if any, are the liability concerns? What happens if the neighbor prunes and damages the tree without our permission?
We live in Ohio, by the way. We do not have a Home Owner’s Association.

What Are The Rules About Using A Playground On School Property?

I hope I’m posting this question in the right place.
A new outdoor playground was just installed at a school in our neighborhood. It is on school property next to a field which includes a baseball diamond, basketball court and tennis court. But the placement of the playground structures make it obviously part of the school rather than the park. Will I be able to bring my 3 year old to play there outside of school hours? Since it is school property will I be trespassing if I bring him there on the weekend or after school gets out?

My wife and I got married in 2009 so we will be filing separate returns for 2008.
