it depends on your standards of living and what languages you speak. there are many in Asia, South America and Eastern Europe, but going by your currency your English. I am assuming that you only speak one maybe two languages, but that is an assumption. Spain is really nice in the Mallorca region and I think the houses and standards of living are very affordable and reasonable. I am assuming also that you do not want to live in Asia, but if you do then almost anyplace other than Japan and Korea would be very inexpensive as well. Another place you might want to try is Italian country side, but you really have to scope to find a good bargain but they can be had. Try Greece as well. All these places are very English friendly and if you speak a romance based second language Spanish or Italian will be easy for you. Greece, that’s another story. Also, with the pound being so strong and the US dollar very weak, there are certain parts of the US that are more than affordable and probably only about a years salary for you. If you like privacy you might want to look into buying an island in Canada. You can pick one up for around 15,000 pounds. Sounds crazy I know but at least you can say you own your own island. It’s all about what you want and how you want to live. there are many affordable housing options in many different countries. Ask yourself first, what is the most important aspects of your current life you want to keep and what will you sacrifice. then after you have your list start looking for countries that meet your needs. best of luck.
