What Happens If Property Taxes Are Not Paid?

My friend says that if property (real estate) taxes are not paid the government takes away property, sells it and keeps all the money, regardless of the amount owned. I say that government takes the house and sells it and gives the difference to the owner.
Who is right..?
Thank You.

How Can I Qualify For A Mortgage When I Retire If My Only Sources Of Income Are My Savings + Social Security?

I plan on retiring in a couple of years and then relocating. I will not be working after I retire. Since most mortgage qualifying information revolves around one’s employment income, is it possible to qualify for a mortgage based only on my savings and payments from Social Security?

How Do I Buy A Small Piece Of A Property That Is In Foreclosure?

My next door neighbor just moved amid a foreclosure. The property line sits close enough that I only have enough room for a one-car driveway. To expand it enough to fit two, I’d need a couple feet from his property. How could I go about purchasing that land? Are banks willing to sell off such small amounts of land (two feet by 150 feet) and does it require city approval? Or, should I wait to deal with the new owner? It seems silly, but that small amount would really help.

How Can I Get My Name Off Of The Mortgage And The Deed?

I am on the mortgage and the deed. I am willing to sign the house over. Just to relsolve the relationship. How can I do this? He won’t sign anything. And he won’t agree to it. We can sell the property but he won’t help in the prep or the sale. I make very little a year and can not afford the house on my own. I have a young child thankfully not to him. He is not abusive physically but he is emotionally and mentally but I can not prove it.
Help Help. I just want out. I have an excellent credit rating 800 I don’t want to file BK. I am very credit worthy. I just want my daughter and I to be able to move out.

What Is It Called When You And Others Own Property Together?

I am looking into purchasing the upper duplex unit of a duplex property. My uncle owns the bottom unit, and I want to purchase the top from my father. I am looking up some information on this idea regarding taxes, contracts, etc. and cannot find the exact name of what I am trying to do. I tried “shared property” and that didn’t work. Any ideas? Thanks!

When Considering What Mortgage To Go With, Why Is Everyone So Against Interest Only Loans?

I think they are great when you have a commission based job/career. We have a fixed interest only loan, so if things are tight we can pay bare minimum and when they are more relaxed we can more than make up for that loss of principal by paying more…….And every time you pay principal your actual (interest) payment goes down…..So over time, adding lump sums will reduce your payment versus paying a fixed mortgage for forever/or until its paid off.

What Is The Best Lender To Choose For A Mortgage In Florida?

It is so hard to pick a mortgage lender. They can only give you a range of interest percentages. You don’t know the rate til you commit to them after you have already paid the application fees. What is the best lender in Florida for would-be homeowners?

How Do We Determine If A Property Management Company Is Negligent?

The pipes in our association are rusty and bursting without notice. Sewage backs up into my unit. I submitted receipts for my loss of sheets, towels, and rugs. I asked that the rusted/corroded pipes be replaced six months ago. A piece of pipe was saved and there is only about 2mm space for water to pass through. I made a request this month that my things be replaced, and the pipes to be fixed. The property managment company said the board denied everything and will not replace my pipes until they burst. I could not believe he put this in writing. Is this negligence if they know they are rusted, a health hazzard and are intentionally not going to fix the problem while it is small?

Is It More Work To Refinance With Another Mortgage Company Than Refinancing With Your Current Lender?

Three months ago my wife and I bought our first house at a 5.5% rate. The mortgage broker who was a family friend moved on to another company. My boss’s husband owns a separate company and can do us a refi at 5.125% which would save us pretty good money. It seems complicated though like our original closing! Would I save time or money by trying to refi through Bank of America (our current lender)? Any suggestions are helpful, thanks!
